Climate Policy Engagement Analysis
Climate Policy Engagement Overview: The Korea Semiconductor Industry Association (KSIA) appears to have very limited engagement with climate policy, and weak disclosure of its climate policy positioning and engagement. KSIA supported renewable energy legislation in South Korea and the transition to a low-carbon energy mix.
Top-line Messaging on Climate Policy: InfluenceMap did not find evidence of clear top-line messaging on climate policy by KSIA in 2023-2024.
Engagement with Climate-Related Regulations: KSIA appears to have limited engagement with climate-related regulations in South Korea. In a November 2024 Voice of the people news article, KSIA suggested government support on renewable energy such as tax benefits and financial assistance for companies using renewable energy. In a March 2023 Chosun Ilbo news article, KSIA appeared unsupportive of the South Korean government’s emissions reduction target, stating it will be “difficult to survive if the cost burden increases.”
Positioning on Energy Transition: InfluenceMap found limited but positive evidence of KSIA’s engagement on the transition to a low-carbon energy mix. In an April 2023 The Elec article, KSIA supported an increase in new and renewables in the energy mix, especially with offshore wind and solar power.
